It’s time to host an online Red Kettle–it’s easy and fun!

If you’ve always wanted to volunteer to ring the Salvation Army bell but have, a) a packed holiday calendar, b) an aversion to shopping malls, or c) a fear of frostbite, we’ve got the solution. Ring online!

This year marks the fourth annual Online Red Kettle campaign for The Salvation Army in the U.S. With a goal of $2 million, online kettles are expected to raise income this year to help meet the increase in demand for Salvation Army services across the country.

The cyber kettles have already begun to see some serious action. On October 30, two teams from the National Football League faced off in an Online Red Kettle challenge in the Central Territory. The final score: Minnesota Vikings—$5,872, Green Bay Packers—$11,501.

Visit the Online Red Kettle website today—www.onlineredkettle.org—and start your own individual kettle or a team kettle for your colleagues or friends. Once you register a kettle with your name and location, set a goal, and customize your page, you can begin emailing your friends a link to your kettle.

This year, Facebook users can install an application that will make sharing their kettle with their online community a breeze. Just log in to your kettle page and click on “get blog or Facebook widgets” at the bottom. Follow the on-screen instructions and begin promoting your kettle with your friends.
