Racing With Faith In Kentucky

Lt. Mark Ferreira (right) and Dave Pack (left) were integral in helping establish the partnership between The Salvation Army and Morgan Shepherd (2nd to right) and his Victory in Jesus Racing Team.

Morgan Shepherd and his Victory in Jesus Racing Team competed this past weekend in Kentucky, and this time Salvation Army Lieutenant Mark Ferreira from Portsmouth, Ohio had the opportunity to see them in action.

Lt. Ferreira was invited as a personal guest of Dave Pack, a member of Shepherd’s team, but Ferreira was more than just another spectator. He helped make “The Salvation Army” car happen!

The special partnership between Morgan Shepherd’s Victory in Jesus Racing ministry and The Salvation Army, which we’ve been blogging about for months now, originally started thanks to the hard work and inspired idea of Pack and Ferreira.

The two helped connect Shepherd and The Salvation Army, who have similar ministry goals, and the partnership grew from an event in North Carolina to several races around the country. And with our iconic red shield emblazoned on the hood of Shepherd’s race car, the Victory in Jesus team not only raised awareness of our service and programs throughout the country during difficult economic times, but several youths involved in our programs have had the experience of a lifetime as they’ve attended races as Shepherd’s VIP guests.

Thanks to Lt. Ferreira and Dave Pack for pursuing this great idea! And we are extremely grateful to Morgan Shepherd and his team for the support they continue to show The Salvation Army.
