A poster designed by Bill Simon, translator and YPL leader, recently won first place in the World AIDS Day poster contest held in Majuro, Marshall Islands. The award brought $200 to The Salvation Army.

The poster contest was part of an annual event that focuses attention on AIDS awareness and prevention in the islands. The event was culminated by games and a community parade.

The Salvation Army is the only non-governmental organization that provides an AIDS awareness and prevention education program throughout the Marshall Islands.

“We’re all very pleased with this award,” said Major Ronald Wildman, Islands Coordinator, Republic of the Marshall Islands. “Bill’s outstanding work will help the Army in its efforts to continue to educate the community about AIDS and its prevention.”
