Easter enrollments
The Chico, Calif., corps and adult rehabilitation program (ARP) had quite an Easter Sunday: 10 adherents, 10 junior and three senior soldiers joined the Army’s ranks. “We had 104 at our prayer breakfast and a combined ARP and corps worship service with 219 in attendance,” reports Corps Officer Captain Darren Stratton. “Captain Courtney and I are humbled to be a part of a vibrant ministry which is seeking to change lives every day.”

Apartment fire victims aided
Alaska Salvationists provided meals for families who were displaced due to an apartment fire in Anchorage. Kevin Lowenberg and Bill Reardon, Anchorage Corps soldiers employed at The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Program (ARP), along with other key staff and beneficiaries, were happy to serve in this capacity and provided more than 180 meals over three days. According to John Nease,ARP resident manager, the families were most appreciative of the Army’s assistance.

ARC Partnership award
Salvationists Karen and Victor Lim received an award on behalf of the Asian American Yerba Buena Corps, San Francisco, for partnership in service with The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC). The award was presented at the ARC’s annual sobriety dinner in appreciation for the corps’ outreach ministry to clients and their families during the year.

Congratulations, grads!
The following officers recently completed graduate studies and have earned the following degrees:

Major Charles Fowler, trainee-in-charge, Seattle, Wash., ARC— a Master of Business Administration degree from Spring Arbor University, Mich.

Major Elicio Marquez, territorial multicultural ministries secretary— a Master of Divinity degree, with a concentration in multicultural ministries, from Fuller Theological Seminary, Calif.

Major Darlan Marquez, associate territorial multicultural ministries secretary— a Master of Arts in Global Leadership degree from Fuller Theological Seminary, Calif.

New appointments
Effective March 31, 2010, Lts. George and Maggie Lopez are appointed associate corps officers, Aurora Corps, Colo. Also effective on that date, Majors Wes and Ruth Sundin are appointed Ogden, Utah, corps officers. Effective April 7, 2010, Captains Christopher and Christa Mitchell are appointed as special services, THQ personnel services. In the Southwest Division, Captain David Kauffman is appointed divisional youth secretary and Captain Erin Kauffman is appointed associate divisional youth secretary, both effective June 2, 2010.
