Wyoming governor is SA volunteer

Denver Red Shield teams “SuperBowl bound”
Lts. Roberta and Ron McKinney, Denver Red Shield, report that of the Red Shield’s four football teams, two––the Intermediates (11-and 12-year-olds) and the Bantams (9-and 10-year-olds)—went 7-0 and both earned the right to play in the Denver Police Athletic League (PAL) SuperBowl. Their Pee Wee team (6-and 8-year-olds) is 5-2 and will be competing in the playoffs to also earn the right to play in the SuperBowl.

“We are also proud of our senior team, which compiled a 3-4 record in a rebuilding year; last year’s team won the SuperBowl and state championship and 11 members of that team won scholarships to Mullin and Regis High Schools, both top-notch private high schools. We are proud of our children and thank God that they represent themselves, their families and The Salvation Army so well both on and off the football field,” said McKinney.

Santa Monica ARC opens new store
The Santa Monica, Calif., ARC recently opened a 15,000 square foot store that is “brightly lit and full of wonderful items—including brand new Guess brand clothing,” reports Major Janene Zielinski, Santa Monica ARC director of special services. The new store is located at 4001 Inglewood Ave., in Redondo Beach, Calif.

Comcast cares
Three hundred volunteers painted, cleaned and refloored The Salvation Army Red Shield Weingart Youth Center and The Salvation Army Way In Youth Shelter & Drop In Center in Hollywood.

“We are extremely excited that we were one of three non-profit organizations chosen by Comcast for this year’s Comcast Cares Day project,” said Major Paul R. Seiler, Southern California divisional commander. “Comcast volunteers provided a host of improvements that will enhance our centers and provide an uplifting environment for the boys and girls we serve.”
