A Sweet Deal
On June 2nd, TSA and Krispy Kreme will team up in Southern Calif. to celebrate National Doughnut Day. For one day only, every customer who visits a Southern Calif. or a Sierra del Mar Krispy Kreme will get a free Original Glazed doughnut, and for every free doughnut provided, Krispy Kreme will make a donation to The Salvation Army. Denver Red Shield Salutes Veterans
To celebrate National Salvation Army Week (May 10-16), the Denver Red Shield held a veterans’ stand-down, providing food, clothing, showers, medical exams, job resume writing, disability claim filing, counseling, benefit researching for veterans and resource information for family members of active duty military. Participants enjoyed the Army’s Famous Doughnut and musical entertainment.

Need Knows No Season
The Salvation Army’s Intermountain Division, partnering with CBS 4, raised over 57,000 items of food in the recent Care 4 Colorado Spring Food Drive. The food will help feed families in need this spring and summer. Special thanks go to CBS 4, Metro Safeway grocery stores, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts for their help in making the food drive a success.

New appointment correction
In the last issue of New Frontier (May 10, 2004), we failed to announce Major Carol Seiler’s full appointment. Effective October 1, she will serve as director of women’s organizations/divisional strategic initiative coordinator designate from June 30. She is presently assistant chief secretary for strategic planning at territorial headquarters.

Southwest Celebrates
National Salvation Army Week
Fundraisers and visits to the Phoenix VA hospital highlighted the Southwest Division’s celebration of National Salvation Army Week. Benefiting the Army’s Kaiser Family Homeless Shelter, the 2nd Annual Salvation Army Bandstand Night featured the classic cars and music of the 1950s.
The Golf Classic 2004, held at Desert Highlands Golf Resort in Scottsdale, Ariz., benefited women and children residing in Elim House, the Army’s domestic violence respite shelter.
During the week, Army volunteers visited the Phoenix VA hospital, where they served coffee and the Army’s Famous Doughnut to the veterans.

New Recruits in Napa
Mother’s Day was noteworthy for the Napa, Calif. Corps as Capts. Darren and Courtney Stratton enrolled the corps’ first new senior soldiers in twelve years! Soldiers Diana O’Connor, and Cal and Judy Cornils are new to the Army and eager to serve Christ. Capt. Stratton said, “God is doing great things in Napa—we are excited to see growth in the lives of our people and we praise God for our new recruits.”

Commissioner’s Sunbeams
Congratulations to Audriana and Jasmine Moody of the La Grande, Oregon Corps for earning the Commissioner’s Sunbeam award. Audriana, age 11, and Jasmine, 10, are the daughters of La Grande Corps Officers Captains Greg and Orpha Moody. Cascade divisional leaders, Majors Kenneth and Jolene Hodder presented the girls with their awards.
