ARC in the news
Hino Trucks and Monarch Truck Center presented a new fleet truck, valued at $35,000, as a donation to the Adult Rehabilitation Centers Command (ARCC). Major Ron Strickland, territorial business secretary designate and Henry Filoteo, ARCC director of production, accepted the donation for the Portland ARC. Jason Trimm, a Monarch Trucks sales manager, became familiar with the Army through a business relationship with the Oakland ARC and presented the idea of donating a fleet truck to the ARC to General Manager Jim Hogan of Monarch Trucks.
Five women residents of the Anaheim ARC, ranging in age from 25-50, modeled evening dresses, work attire, and casual outfits which were donated to The Salvation Army, at a fashion show at the Tustin Ranch Corps. The event was sponsored by The Salvation Army’s Women’s Auxiliary of Orange County.
The Stockton, Calif., ARC recently celebrated 40 years of ministry with a weeklong celebration. Mayor Ed Chavez signed a proclamation recognized Army’s ministry, and the Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors unveiled a new dedicatory plaque. The week culminated with the annual BBQ sobriety reunion dinner. Major George Rocheleau was featured speaker and Major Dawn Rocheleau provided special music. The theme for the entire week was RESTORATION: 40 years of restoring lives through Christ and recovery. Two alumni shared their restoration stories and a mother of another alumni shared “My son restored.”

Canteen feeds needy in Kaua‘i
The Army’s mobile canteen fulfills an important need in feeding the hungry in Kaua‘i. Twice a week, more than 200 people, many of them children and elderly, are served hot meals at Hanamaulu Beach Park. 
“The need is so great and the service is a must,” says Captain Mitham Clement, Lihue corps officer. “It is so gratifying to see that we are able to feed so many hungry children.”
 Although several groups have helped maintained the feeding program, there is still a great need for additional funding, food donations, paper goods, and community partnerships.

Sloan earns Master’s Degree
Captain Barbara Sloan, Glendale, Calif., corps officer, has recently been awarded a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Capella University. Congratulations, Captain!

New divisional Latino coordinators
Commissioner Philip Swyers, territorial commander, recently appointed two couples as Divisional Latino Coordinators to help with the increasing development of the Latino work in their respective areas. Majors Moises and Maria Hernandez, have been appointed Latino coordinators for the Southwest Division.
Majors Antonio and Aide Horta, were appointed Latino coordinators for the Southern California Division.
