Along with an education, vocational training is offered that prepares the girls for employment, thereby offering access to a more positive and successful adult life.

INDIA—The Salvation Army in India partners with local self-help groups to tackle poverty and inequality throughout India. Gender inequality, taught and experienced from birth, is ingrained in the culture. The self-help groups provide women with a “place” for training and support, offering skills training, financial and peer support, friendship and self-esteem.

Whether the need is economic, physical, spiritual or social, the groups provide a safe arena for women to learn how to fight against their attacks and meet their needs, aiming to offer members hope for a better future.
