After a 16-year-old student went from classroom to classroom stabbing 20 people at Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville, Pa., The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) team was on the scene to provide support. On April 9, EDS personnel provided immediate assistance to the first responders and two teams of emotional and spiritual care providers were also standing by for assistance. No fatalities have been reported, however three students remain hospitalized and in critical condition.

“As a parent and grandparent, I can think of nothing more distressing than senseless violence against children,” Gov. Tom Corbett of Pennsylvania said in the statement. “My heart and prayers go out to all the victims and their families.”

EDS teams are on standby, pending any further requests for assistance; and will be available for emotional and spiritual care now and in the days following the incident.
