A forest fire is blazing through Valparaiso, Chile for a third day since its start on April 12. According to the Associated Press, there are 12 dead, 10,000 evacuated and over 2,000 homes destroyed.

The Salvation Army Chile Central division organized the campaign “Help Us Lift Up Valparaíso” to help the thousands of families affected by the fire. Salvationists are dispersed throughout the city offering meals and water to those who need it.

The division is also collecting non-perishable food items, water, disposable tableware, trays and utensils, hygiene items and clothes to distribute at the evacuation centers of Valparaiso.

Salvationists will remain present as long as it is needed.
