Division holds young adult retreat.

During October, I attended our division’s (Intermountain) young adult retreat. Not only was this my first event of this nature, but also, as far as I can remember, it was the first one in a long time (if not ever) in the Intermountain Division. Spending three days with other young adults from the division was refreshing and inspiring.

Living so far away from our divisional camp requires long hours of car travel—this, followed by a weekend completely filled with activity, would normally leave me exhausted. My experience from this weekend was just the opposite. “Advance” was the theme for the weekend, and the Scripture was Philippians 3:12-14. We were blessed with a wonderful guest speaker, Craig Bowler, and with praise and worship leader, Erik Dabis.

The weekend seemed designed just for me. It was all about “Advancing”: “Press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me” (Philippians 3:12). Bowler shared the importance of advancing downward before we could advance upward. There is one path to God, but sometimes we find that we have wandered down a side path, and in order to get back to the main road we have to go back to go forward.

I journeyed to Estes Park, Colorado for this event with the anticipation of benefiting from the message and enjoying fellowship with old and new friends. My time spent at camp was much more—I left rejuvenated and charged. Not only did the retreat help rekindle the fire in my spiritual walk; it was a great predecessor to the Aggressive Christianity Conference. “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14).
