Bible study: Proverbs 22-24

No one needs wisdom more than those in positions of authority and responsibility. Parents, teachers, civic leaders, pastors—the need is the same; skill in making moral, ethical and spiritual decisions consistent with God’s Word and will. Why? Because their choices impact not only their lives, but the lives of those they are attempting to lead into righteous paths of conduct and character.

Motto on a procrastinator’s desk; “Never put off till tomorrow what you can put off till the day after tomorrow!”

The apostle Paul wrestled with the problem of laziness in the church at Thessalonica (2 Thessalonians 3:10-11). And the book of Proverbs paints a graphic picture of the danger of sloth (Proverbs 24:30-34). The lazy person can expect his endevours and possessions to crumble and fall apart—not from doing wrong, but from doing nothing. The end result; an impoverished person whose destruction has come suddenly—one day at a time.

Have you been putting off reading a good Christian book, beginning an exercise program, writing some overdue letters, visiting a shut-in or a relative?

Go outside right now and pull a weed or two from the nearest patch of grass. Then bring your “object lesson” indoors, pull out a few sheets of paper, and write down five neglected tasks you need to complete by the end of the month. Arrange them in order of priority, and put a date by each, showing when you intend to complete them. Then tackle “Project #1” today. You’ll be amazed how fast your list—and the weeds it represents—starts to disappear!
