Webbs retire after 32 years of active service

Majors John and Dee Webb



After 32 years of active service, Majors John and Dee Webb recently retired.

Both John Webb and Dee Bartee were commissioned in 1959 with the Pioneers Session—John out of the Petersburg, Alaska Corps and Dee out of the Kake, Alaska Corps. Later that year, they left active officership and were married. For the next 12 years, they remained faithful soldiers and worked in para-medical service.

In 1972, they returned to active officership, serving for seven years first as trainees then as administrators of the San Diego Door of Hope. From 1979-1980 they were administrators at the Portland, Oregon White Shield Center.

Next they served as corps officers at the Hilo, Hawaii corps and Troubled Teens Residence, at the Lancaster, Calif. corps, and at the La Grande, Ore. corps.

The Webbs moved to the Denver ARC in 1984 as assistants to the administrator, serving there until 1988, and then moved to the Oakland ARC in the same role for the next four years.

From 1992-1997 they served as directors of the Phoenix Harbor Light Center, before moving to Santa Fe, New Mex., where they served as corps officers until 2003. They retired from the Phoenix Herberger Center, where they were corps officers.

While serving as officers, both John and Dee furthered their education. John holds a BA degree in business administration and marketing, and MA degrees in human resources and biblical archeology. Dee has a BA degree in psychology.

They plan to further their education in retirement. John has plans for a doctoral fellow in biblical archeology and Dee for a Masters degree in Hebraic studies. They are looking forward to archeological excavations in Israel.

A celebration of service was held in Phoenix with Divisional Commander Lt. Colonel Don Mowery acting as master of ceremonies.
