More than 500 friends and supporters attended The Salvation Army’s First Annual Community Awareness Luncheon in Spokane, Wash., which provided the audience with a comprehensive overview of the Army’s new Family Resource Campus.
During the event, Allan Toole, Family Resource Campaign chair and former advisory board chair, was honored with the William Booth Award.
Keynote speaker and National Advisory Board Chair Edsel Ford II, who admitted that the Army was his favorite charity, called The Salvation Army a “street-smart, pragmatic organization, more focused than most businesses I know in delivering value.” He went on to say that he has been truly impressed with the Army’s work in Spokane.
Lt. Colonel Terry Griffin, Northwest divisional commander, presented the William Booth Award to Toole, noting that he has given of his time, talent, and resources to the community of Spokane for over 60 years.
“His generosity is pure and sincere and comes from a true motivation to make life better for those in need in our community. The Salvation Army is honored to have him as a part of our organization.”
