Four people died in the incident, including the gunman, who turned the firearm on himself.
The Salvation Army responded to a shooting at a UPS building in the Potrero Hill neighborhood of San Francisco.
An Emergency and Disaster Services (EDS) team headed to the scene near 17th Street and San Bruno to provide food and hydration for the police officers waiting to respond.
Four people died in the incident, including the gunman, who turned the firearm on himself, prompting a massive police response and a shelter-in-place warning for the surrounding area.
“When the call came in requesting The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services to help, we acted immediately,” said John McKnight, Director for Emergency Disaster Services. Within minutes, The Salvation Army established a food/hydration canteen nearby.
The Salvation Army will continue to cooperate with local emergency management agencies to provide for those in need.
“We are privileged to be able to be able to serve,” McKnight said.
