Divisional TEAM Discipleship Coordinators/Directors met at Crestmont College Conference Center recently to learn new seminar material and to discuss how to better use TEAM Discipleship material to achieve the great commission.

Five new seminars were released for use in local corps. The major seminar is “Foundations of the Faith” written by Nigel Cross, territorial discipleship and lay leadership development director, and is comprised of eight one-hour sessions that revisit The Salvation Army doctrines and Arminian theology in a systematic look at our beliefs.

Major Steven Bradley, territorial program assistant, wrote and presented “The Art of Preaching.” This four-hour seminar outlines the process of writing a textual sermon so that individuals who have had this training will be able to write a sermon and to deliver it successfully if they are asked to preach when their corps officer is unable to.

Claude Nikondeha, territorial multi-cultural director, wrote and taught a three-hour seminar, “Diversity: Opportunities and Challenges.” This seminar addresses issues of culture and ethnicity, western culture expectations versus non-western culture, and how differences can be celebrated or cause disharmony.

A two-hour seminar, created to assist music leaders with the non-musical aspects of their ministry was presented and written by Ralph Pearce, South-west divisional music director.

An eight-session seminar/ training manual created by ChurchSmart, “Focusing Worship,” was distributed for use in the divisions. A seminar released in 2002, “The Look of a Leader,” produced by Winning with Encouragement, now has additional trainers who can teach the seminar in the west.
