A torrential downpour didn’t dampen the spirits of the Sydney Songsters or the congregation at the Pasadena Tabernacle Corps, who braved the inclement weather to enjoy an evening of inspiration by the Australian group.

The Songsters’ recent visit to the Western Territory, under the leadership of Songster Leader Graeme Press, was both uplifting and spiritually challenging to all who heard them.

“The Songsters were able to turn a regular concert into a true worship experience,” said Pasadena Tabernacle Songster Andrew Hill. “I felt like I was at the foot of the cross experiencing every emotion.”

Their concert focused on Easter, through both drama and song, and came to a climax with the song, “He had to hold to Calvary,” arranged by Press. Soloist Garry Druery presented this piece with emotion that brought tears to the eyes of listeners.

The whirlwind tour had the group visiting Hawaii, CFOT, Pasadena, Long Beach and Seattle in six days. Their trip also included stops in New Zealand and Canada. Nigel Cross, Northwest divisional Music Director, praised their musical excellence shown through the variety in their selections. “Their sound and quality was wonderful, and Garry Druery was a highlight. We were very pleased to have them in Seattle.”

The group also participated in services at Pasadena Tab and Long Beach Temple on Palm Sunday. This group of only 28 singers had a big sound, but the true power came in the dynamic of their message.
