More than 250 Salvation Army Senior and Junior soldiers, Guards and Sunbeams, Adventure Corps, officers, staff and volunteers marched through the streets of East Los Angeles to bear witness to Christ’s love and the services of the local Belvedere Gardens Corps.

About 200 of the marchers were children and young adults representing seven largely Hispanic Los Angeles area corps. The corps represented include Anaheim Temple, Belvedere Gardens, Eastmont Temple, Hollywood Temple, Lincoln Heights, and Santa Ana Temple and Sun Valley Outpost.

Divisional Commander Lt. Col. Alfred Van Cleef said, “The Salvation Army kids marching here today have said no to gang violence, drugs and crime and yes to Jesus. They’re here to show others that The Salvation Army worship center in their community is a place of refuge and service.”

The festive parade was followed by a special program highlighting the children’s ministries of each of the participating corps. The celebration ended with a pizza luncheon and carnival for the children.

Ellos están aquí para mostrar a otros que el centro de adoración del Ejército de Salvación en su comunidad es un lugar de refugio y servicio.”

El desfile festivo fue seguido por un programa especial resaltando los ministerios a los niños de cada Cuerpo que participó. La celebración finalizó con un almuerzo de pizza y un carnaval para los niños.
