Salvation Army of Orange County starts kettle campaign

Hosted by the Anaheim Ducks, The Salvation Army in Orange County launched its 2015 Red Kettle Campaign during the pre-game festivities of the Ducks and New York Islanders NHL game on Friday, Nov. 13.

This was the 17th year that the Ducks have hosted the Red Kettle Kick-Off in Orange County. Supported by Wild Wing, Captains Nigel and Stacy Cross (Orange County Coordinators) and youth representative Madison Sparks from the Tustin Ranch Corps, the iconic red kettle made its way onto the ice where Ducks Team Captain Ryan Getzlaf placed the first official donation of the season. In addition to the kettle donation, the Ducks hosted a silent auction during the game with proceeds going to The Salvation Army.

“We want to thank the Anaheim Ducks and our community supporters,” said Captain Nigel Cross. “The funds collected in these red kettles provide a much needed resource to assist us in operating our programs; programs that feed the hungry, provide clothing to families and shelter to those challenged by homelessness. Together, we can make this a special Christmas for many people throughout the county.”

During this past year, The Salvation Army in Orange County assisted more than 77,000 individuals through its social service programs. This Christmas, The Salvation Army expects to serve over 2000 families, representing 10,000 men, women and children that will receive direct assistance with food and toys for the holiday.
