Hultin Called Home

Major Harold Hultin (R) was promoted to Glory recently from his home in San Marcos, Calif.

Harold was born in 1926 to Salvationist parents in St. Paul, Minn. He felt the call for service at the age of 11. Hultin was commissioned an ensign in the U. S. Navy in 1946. In 1947, while assigned by the Navy to the University of Minnesota, he met and married Marguerite Crawford. They were commissioned in 1948 as part of the King’s Messengers Session. After several Central Territory corps assignments, Harold served as the financial secretary in five divisions, and was territorial audit secretary from 1981 until retirement in 1991.

After moving to San Marcos he was very active in the Oceanside Corps, giving excellent leadership as bandmaster and songster leader. He also contributed his expertise in the Sierra Del Mar finance department, and was treasurer of the Southern California Retired Officers’ League for the past two years.

He is survived by his wife, Marguerite, five daughters: Major Nancy Mowers, Sue Ann Hultin, Peggy Crowe, Carol Hultin, and Sharon Bailey; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His sister, Mrs. Evy Johnson, also survives him.

A memorial service was held at the Oceanside Corps with Lieutenant Brian West, corps officer, officiating. Hultin will be buried at sea by the U.S. Navy at a later date.
