The West has recently gone online with a fresh, updated Territorial web site. By logging on, “net surfers” can quickly gain information on programs and events and see how the Army is changing lives across the Western Territory.

Developed under the direction of Lt. Col. Raymond Peacock, territorial secretary for program, the website’s address is www.salvationarmy.usawest.org.

“I am very pleased with the work that has been done to the website,” said Commissioner David Edwards. “Apart from it’s being attractive, there is far more information available on the site that would be of interest to people exploring the Web and wanting to find out something more about the Army in the Western Territory.”

The eye-catching graphics help users navigate easily through the site without cluttering up their screens.

For people unfamiliar with the Army, the site includes helpful background information including the Doctrines, and a brief history of the Army.

For Salvationists, the site is packed with news and information on Army programs and events, including information on Disciples Count!–the new territorial evangelism/discipleship program, a list of territorial events, news from the divisions, links to New Frontier and other editions of Army publications, a weekly devotional, employment opportunities, child sponsorship information and information on the Keeping in Touch/Prayer Partners program.

The West began its web presence in 1995, when it became one of the first Army territories to use the internet as an outreach tool when it launched its original site, People Count! In February, 1996, New Frontier began publishing online, the first Army newspaper to do so.

Today, there are more than 140 Salvation Army websites worldwide listed on the IHQ Global Website Index.
