Bestselling author to be featured speaker at NAOC.

 

National Chief Secretary, Lt. Colonel Barry C. Swanson, announced on February 1 that the “highly popular business author and management teacher, Jim Collins, will be the featured speaker at the National Advisory Organizations Conference (NAOC) on Saturday morning, April 28th in Dallas.”

Upon learning that Collins would speak at NAOC, Lee Stiles, director of development for the Northwest Division in Seattle, said, “That is great! Everyone in the private sector is doing ‘Good to Great’ training. I can’t wait to hear him.”

Collins’ book, Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap…And Others Don’t, attained long-running positions on the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Business Week bestseller lists, has sold 2.5 million hardcover copies since publication and has been translated into 32 languages.

Collins’ most recent monograph, Good to Great and the Social Sectors: Why Business Thinking Is Not the Answer, explores the special challenges faced by those who work in and manage the nonprofit sector.

Collins taught on the faculty at Stanford Graduate School of Business. In 1995, he founded a management laboratory in Boulder, Colorado, where he has taught senior executives and CEOs at more than 100 corporations. He has also worked with Johns Hopkins Medical School, the Girl Scouts of the USA, the Leadership Network of Churches, the American Association of K-12 School Superintendents, and the United States Marine Corps.
