Major Katherine Wood recently entered honorable retirement.

Her officership has been divided almost equally between the Central and Western Territories. The daughter of Colonels Milton and Katherine Agnew, she grew up in the Midwest and earned her B.A. in Music Education from Asbury College, Wilmore, Kentucky.

After teaching public school music in Missouri and Illinois, she entered the School for Officer Training in Chicago with her husband, Booth M. Wood, and together they served in the Central Territory. In 1984 she moved to California, and since 1988 has held appointments in California and Hawaii. Much of her Western Territory service has been in finance, serving in Southern California, Northern California and Hawaii. In 1997 she was appointed to the training school as music officer and senior instructor. She returned to Hawaii in 1999 for two years. Since October 2001 she has been the assistant territorial finance secretary for special projects.

Her passion for music has been a dominant force in her life. She has a deep love for the piano, and has also found joy in vocal and brass music as well as in the challenges of the pipe organ. In 1997 she produced and performed on a CD entitled The Wonder of His Grace, now in its second wave of production. She is known nationally for the depth of her ministry at the piano.

A retirement luncheon was held at the Pasadena Tabernacle Corps with Major Paul Seiler, Territorial Secretary for Personnel, presenting the retirement certificate.

Her brother, Paul Agnew, her children, Lenore Turner, Jonathan Wood, and Stephen Wood, and her grandson, Christopher Rondeau, join her many friends in wishing her continued joy and fulfillment in her retirement.
