Lt. Colonel Sharon Robertson recently retired after 39 years of service.

Sharon was born in Spokane, Wash. While a student at Simpson Bible College in San Francisco and a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Sharon received a clear calling from the Lord to serve as a Salvation Army officer. She avoided the call for two years, but finally, while soldiering at the Redondo Beach, Calif. corps, she yielded to God’s insistence and entered training in San Francisco with the Proclaimers of the Faith Session.

Commissioned in 1965, Sharon was appointed assistant corps officer at Sacramento, Calif., and then was sent to Honolulu as divisional youth officer. Next she served at the School for Officer Training as librarian, brigade officer, assistant education officer and education officer.

After some time spent in the territorial youth department and as corps officer in Petersburg, Alaska, Sharon was appointed director of the Los Angeles Day Care Center, where she served from 1976-1982.

She then returned to Alaska as divisional secretary/divisional youth secretary before moving to the Intermountain Division as youth secretary.

From 1985-1987, Major Robertson was appointed assistant territorial youth and candidates’ secretary. In 1987 she was assigned to National Headquarters as assistant consultant in evangelism and Christian education.

She returned to THQ in the West in 1989, where she served successively as assistant legal secretary, assistant personnel secretary and assistant chief secretary.

Sharon has earned a B.S. degree in Bible and Christian Education from Simpson Bible College, an M.S. in Childhood Education from Pepperdine University, and was appointed to attend the International College for Officers in London and Brengle Holiness Institute in Chicago.

A celebration of service was held at THQ with Lt. Colonel Donald Bell leading and Commissioner Linda Bond presenting the retirement certificate.

Lt. Colonel Robertson’s retirement address is 915 Pacific Avenue, Willows, CA 95988.
