Atheist-turned-Christian Lee Strobel, former award-winning legal editor of The Chicago Tribune, is a New York Times best-selling author of more than 40 books and curricula that have sold 14 million copies. He currently serves as President of the Lee Strobel Center for Evangelism and Applied Apologetics at Colorado Christian University, and this June he will give the address at the Western Territory’s College for Officer Training (CFOT) at Crestmont Commencement ceremony.

“What we believe about God really informs how we act, behave and interact with people, so it’s critical we know what we believe,” said Territorial Program Secretary Lt. Colonel Lisa Smith, noting the theme for this year’s Commissioning weekend is “We Believe.” “Lee Strobel is a renowned apologist who went through the journey of unbelief to belief through the study of Scripture, so it will be great to hear from him at this event.” 

Lee earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism at the University of Missouri and a master’s degree in law at Yale Law School. He was a journalist for 14 years at The Chicago Tribune and other newspapers, winning Illinois’ highest honors for investigative reporting and public service journalism from United Press International.

After probing the evidence for Jesus for nearly two years, Lee became a Christian in 1981. He subsequently became a teaching pastor at three of America’s largest churches and hosted the national network TV program Faith Under Fire. In addition, he taught First Amendment law at Roosevelt University and was Professor of Christian Thought at Houston Baptist University. 

In 2017, Lee’s spiritual journey was depicted in an award-winning motion picture, The Case for Christ, which showed in theaters around the world. The movie is still on Netflix. Lee won national awards for his books “The Case for Christ,” “The Case for Faith,” “The Case for a Creator,” and “The Case for Grace.” His latest book is “The Case for Miracles.”

The CFOT Commencement is slated for June 13 at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts in Cerritos, California.
