“We will be competent in the use of new technologies to effectively further the aims of the Gospel.”International Headquarters has announced the launch of an official Salvation Army chat room, accessible through the IHQ website. The chat room allows Salvationists from across the world to share news and views with each other in real time, responding to messages posted by others as they appear on screen.

Members of the popular discussion forum have already had access to a trial version of the chat room for a while, and the concept has met with an enthusiastic response. “Chat” subjects have varied from Army band music to testimonies, from simple small talk to group prayer times. A transcript is always available, enabling people to see what has been written previously.

One enthusiastic “chatter” wrote: “It has been wonderful to bring Salvationists from across the world closer together, to learn more about one another’s cultures, backgrounds, questions, but most importantly to talk about our faith and the wonderful organization in which we serve.”
