I am Hebrew and I fear God. In some way this summarizes the powerful message and challenge given by Lt.Colonel Roberto Frías (Chief Secretary for the Latin America North Territory) at the Hispanic Rally. This was a rally of Victory!! The Hispanic congregation enjoyed the praise and worship, the testimonies, but above all they enjoyed the Word of God that came through the experience of Jonah. His calling, his disobedience, his reconciliation and his anger. All of this in one lifetime!

The word of Jehovah came to Jonah. “…Stand up and go…” God always talks to us; he talks to us with a purpose; he gives us instructions; he commissions us; he distinguishes us and gives us the power. But it is in our hands whether we obey or disobey; Jonah did the last. Instead of going to Nineva, he got up and ran from his calling, from his commission; and even though he left he wasn’t able to run away from the presence of Jehovah. “No! God, send someone else! Those people worship other gods; they have their own way of thinking and they say they have enough with their parents’ religion!”

How wrong was Jonah, and for this reason he lost his victory! God did not leave him God’s plan for the city of Nineva was going to be completed. But before Jonah could have victory, he had to admit in the middle of the storm in his life the most important thing. He had to identify himself.

I am a “Hebrew,” and he had to recognize the glory of God…I fear God! With the challenge of being faithful to the calling of God in our lives, of being obedient to his word, Lt. Colonel Frías gave the challenge to come to the altar and to reconcile with our God, emphasizing the fact that the calling is not for some special people–the calling of God is for everyone!

 

Soy Hebreo y temo a Jehová. En alguna forma este título resumiría en gran parte el mensaje, lleno de poder y desafío que el Tte. Coronel Roberto Frías (Secretario en Jefe para el Territorio Norte de Latino America) presentará en el Rally Hispano. Esta fue una reunión de Victoria!

El pueblo Hispano disfruto de las alabanzas, los testimonios; pero por sobre todo, de la palabra de Dios que vino a travez de la experiencia de Jonás. Su llamado, su desobediencia, su reconciliación y su enojo. Todo esto en una sola vida.

Vino palabra de Jehová a Jonás y le dijo, “levantate y ve…” siempre que Dios nos habla, nos habla con un propósito, nos nos da las instrucciones, nos comisiona, nos distingue y nos da poder.

Pero esta en nuestras manos obedecero desobedecer, esto último hizo Jonás. En lugar deir a Níneve se levantó y huyó de sullamado, de su comisión y se fue, pero nunca pudo huir de la presencia misma de Jehová

“¡No! Señor, envía a otro, esa gente es pagana, idólatras, incircuncisos; tienen su propia manera de pensar y dicen que con la religion de sus padres les basta.”

¡Que equivocado estuvo Jonís y por esta razón perdió la Victoria! Dios no lo dejó. Dios cumpliría su propósito de Salvlación para la ciudad de Níneve.

Antes de la victoria, Jonás tuvo que reconocer, en medio de de la tempestad de su vida, lo más importante; identificarse, quién era. “Soy Hebreo,” y reconocer la magnificencia de “Dios temo a Jehová.”

Con un desafío como éste de ser fieles al llamado de Dios a nuestras vidas, de ser obedientes a su palabra el Coronel nos desafió a venir al altar y reconciliarnos con nuestro Dios, resaltando el hecho que el llamado no es sólo para algunas personas especiales, el llamado de Dios es para todos.
