After 39 years of dedicated service, Paul Yukumoto, director of Contracts and Government Services at the Hawaiian and Pacific Islands Division, has retired.

“Paul enjoys a well-deserved reputation for excellence in serving the field,” says Major Dave Hudson, divisional commander. “Those who have had the opportunity to work with him over the years speak of his name with admiration and respect.”

Paul Yukumoto began his career with The Salvation Army in 1965 as a caseworker supervisor at the former Facilities for Children and Youth in Honolulu. As his business and administrative acumen became increasingly evident, he was promoted to a series of management positions including director of admissions, assistant administrator, and ultimately administrative services director. In 1990, he made the move to divisional headquarters where he continued to serve as director of Contracts and Government Services. His role in this capacity over the last 15 years has expanded dramatically to include the handling of legal issues as well as responsibility for all property matters.

He was the recipient of the Outstanding Service Award presented at the Territorial Business Conference in 2003 for being an invaluable asset to the division. He was also the recipient of the National Social Service Recognition Award for outstanding service in the field of social services in 1999.

Born and raised in Hawai‘i, Paul served three years in the U.S. Army Signal Corps before completing his undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Hawai‘i. He holds a master’s degree in Social Work.
