Commissioning 2007 promises a weekend of celebrations.

There is plenty of Good News to be shared! We as an Army have much to celebrate and need to share this good news with one another. In June of this year, Salvationists from around the territory will have the opportunity to join in celebration of the good work that the Lord is doing with our Army, at the annual Territorial Commissioning Weekend, June 8-10, 2007.

We are going to celebrate our young people…
On Friday evening, June 8 at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, young people from around the territory will take part in a concert of praise, featuring young musicians and performers. As part of this celebration we will witness the final round of the 2007 Territorial Bible Competition. Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts is an internationally known concert hall that our young people will have the opportunity to use to bring glory to God.

What an exciting evening this will be…celebrating the good news that our Army is alive with young people who seek to serve and know the Lord more each day!

We are going to celebrate the success of our Win One Woman campaign (WOW!)
On Saturday June 9, a thousand women from around the territory will meet for fellowship, lunch and words of challenge at the Grove of Anaheim. This celebration is being designed to specifically acknowledge the growth in women’s ministries over the previous year, and provide an opportunity to share stories of success in winning souls for Christ.

What an exciting morning this will be…celebrating the good news that our Army is alive with women growing in their knowledge of the Lord and the vital role that they play in the growth of our Army.

We are going to celebrate through the power of music…
Saturday evening, June 9 in the Cerritos Center for Performing Arts, a celebration of music and worship arts will take place for our enjoyment and encouragement. This evening will feature the music of the Territorial Band, a massed songster brigade, joined by the powerful singing of International Staff Songster Marjory Watson. This festival of music will also include the inauguration of the Territorial Songsters. Another evening not to miss…filled with music to challenge and inspire.

What an exciting evening this will be…celebrating the good news that music can reach our souls and stir our hearts.

We are going to celebrate by meeting together…
On Sunday morning, June 10, the territory will meet together in worship as we celebrate the commissioning of the Heralds Of Good News. These new officers will be publicly ordained as ministers of the gospel, sworn in as officers of the Salvation Army, and then in the afternoon be appointed to their first command.

We rejoice in their response to God’s call…and with fanfare announce to the world that they are ready to proclaim the Good News wherever they are.

Information about registration and other events will be available in the coming weeks. In the meantime, prepare yourselves to be part of this weekend. Be active in declaring the good news in your location, and be ready to join together as an Army in this great celebration.
