FAITHFUL–Colonels Bruce and Dorothy Harvey serenade guests at their retirement party, which took place at the Army’s High Peak Camp in Colorado.

Colonels Bruce and Dorothy Harvey have entered honored retirement after 42 years of distinguished service.

The Harveys met in Portland, Ore., while attending Cascade College. After one year of marriage, they entered the Training College, and were commissioned in 1956 with the Sword Bearers Session.

Corps appointments have been at Lincoln Heights, Huntington Park, and Redwood City, Calif., and Roseburg, Ore. They also served at divisional headquarters in the Cascade, Northern California, Alaska, Southwest, Southern California and Intermountain Divisions. They were Adult Rehabilitation Center administrators in San Franciso, Tucson, San Bernardino and Portland.

The Harveys were leaders in the Southwest, followed by leadership in the Northern California Division. After some months as assistant chief secretary at territorial headquarters, the Harveys conclude their years of service in the Intermountain Division.

Their retirement party took place at The Salvation Army’s High Peak Camp. Retired Western Territorial Commanders Commissioners Peter and Grace Chang flew in for the party, along with many officers and board members from their previous appointments.

The Harveys’ extended family arrived in several van and carloads to be together during this important turning point in Bruce and Dorothy’s life. Their five children, Judy Ricken, Marcia Smith, Paul Harvey, Mary Ann Elliot and Barbara Harvey-Hall, along with their families, flew into Denver and then drove up to camp from Hawaii, California and Arizona.
