RENO RAISES FUNDS

The Reno, NV, Corps held an “Around the World” dinner to raise funds for a new girls’ orphanage in Palu, on the island of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. The rebuilding of the girls’ home is a Del Oro divisional project, coordinated by Major Eileen Hoogstad.

Sixty-eight girls ages 5-18 now live in a building with deplorable conditions that floods every time it rains. With the division’s help, the girls should have a new home that houses 82 by next April.

CONGRATULATIONS

Senior soldier Dan Aguila Utrera, Portland Moore Street Corps, OR, recently earned his Master of Arts Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from George Fox University. His parents are Majors Juvencio and Gloria Utrera, corps officers of the Sun Cities Area Corps, AZ.

SAN DIEGO ARC OPENS BOUTIQUE

The San Diego, CA, ARC recently opened its newest boutique/family store in the Pt. Loma area. Joining ARC Administrator Major Doug Williams in the ribbon-cutting ceremony were representatives from the San Diego Chamber of Commerce and Supervisor Ron Roberts’ office. Also present were KPOP radio personality Ken Cannon and a camera crew from KGTV.

HELMS UPDATE

According to his doctor at Cedars Sinai Hospital, Major Gordon Helms is doing well. His bones have healed, his blood count is stable, and he will be starting pre-transplant screening for the stem-cell transplant scheduled for June 25. Majors Gordon and Peggy Helms are appreciative of the prayer support they have received.

TED’S ALIVE…

The On the Corner tribute to Harry Stillwell, in the May 30 issue of New Frontier, indicated baseball great Ted Williams was deceased. Not the case, as baseball fans know. Our apologies!
