Sharing energy
 Lowell Bamford, Southwest Gas, Southern Nevada Division, presented a $30,000 contribution to Energy Share, a fuel fund managed by Victorville Corps Officer Captain Emanuel Henry-John. The contribution, made during the Victorville Rotary Club meeting, is to be used to help pay natural gas bills of residents of the Victor Valley, Barstow, and Big Bear, who are experiencing financial difficulties as a result of the increases in natural gas prices.

That’s new
Puyallup Valley Corps, Wash., has had a number of new events take place recently: Joanne Lucas, from Sydney, Australia, has been appointed director of Youth Ministries. For the last two years, Jo worked as a counselor at Camp Arnold. The corps, which does not have a band, was honored to have a brass quartet of four students from London and Toronto, accompanied by North-west Assistant Divisional Director Glen Greet, play for a Sunday services. Captains Mark and Noelle Nelson are corps officers.

 Facing a shortage of Christmas toys in various Inland Empire (California) communities, firefighters assisted The Salvation Army with 4,000 toys. They were donated from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (San Bernardino County), Chino Valley Fire Protection District, and the San Bernardino, Loma Linda, Rancho Cucamonga, Redlands and Victorville Fire Departments. The toys were generated through the ABC TV 7, Southern California Firefighter’s ‘Spark of Love’ Christmas toy program.

Holiday cheer
A group from the San Diego ARC spread holiday cheer during visits to area convalescent homes. Among the carolers were ARC graduate and long-time adherent activist Jerry Young, several volunteer beneficiaries, Major Jan Williams and Colonels Robert and Gladys Bodine (R), former ARC administrators.

Evangelical Press in San Diego
This year’s Evangelical Press Association conference will be held in San Diego, Calif., with author Philip Yancey as keynote speaker. New Frontier staff Sue Warner and Kevin Dobruck are on the local organizing committee; New Frontier donated the design work, with Dobruck creating the program and promotional materials for the conference.

Reno reports
One of Reno, Nev., corps’ 30 events for Christmas was their 2nd Annual Law Enforcement Bell Ringing Competition. Corps Officer Captain Art Storey reports five agencies collected nearly $4,000 in four hours–up from three agencies collecting $1300 last year!

 Majors Ambroise and Alphonsine Zola were installed recently by Colonel Robin Dunster, Territorial Commander of the Congo (Kinshasa) and Angola Territory, as principal and assistant of the first training session of cadets in Angola. Eight cadets of the Crossbear-ers Session were welcomed. Zola says “My sincere desire is to help in the spiritual rebuilding of the nation.”
