Sacramento ARC holds Good Friday service at the docks
The Sacramento ARC hosted its annual Good Friday service on the docks on April 6. One hundred sixty-two people attended, including officers and soldiers from area corps, residents of the B-Street Shelter, and others from the community, said Captain Julie Brown, who organized the event. Guest speakers included Major Edward Covert, Divisional Commander Major Eda Hokom, Derek Helms, Major Frank Brown, Captain Grady Brown, Captain Osei Stewart, and Major Jack Phillips. The service was part of a weeklong Easter evangelistic campaign at the ARC. Majors Jack and Anna Phillips were the special guests.

Phoenix honors ushers
The Phoenix Citadel Corps, Ariz, held its annual usher ministry luncheon with commissioned and prospective ushers recently. The group is under the leadership of Colonel Don Sather, head usher. “New soldiers are encouraged to become ushers to help them get to know the members of the congregation,” said Sather. “Ushers and greeters have become an important part of the Phoenix Citadel Corps.”

SA helps Holly tornado survivors
The Colorado Springs Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) deployed employees and volunteers following the devastating tornado that ripped through the small Colorado town of Holly. The Army provided over 2,200 meals per day, providing three meals per day, snacks, and drinks to the first responders, survivors and those without power.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Holly community,” said Shelly Tombleson, director of EDS for El Paso County and Holly incident commander. “The Salvation Army will be here as long as we are needed.” Both The Salvation Army and the American Red Cross are coordinating the food distribution.

Idaho Falls celebrates SA Week
Plans are underway in Idaho Falls for the upcoming National Salvation Army Week Luncheon slated for May 23, 2007, in conjunction with the Idaho Falls Rotary Club and The Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce forum. The luncheon will be held at the Red Lion Convention Center, with Idaho Governor Butch Otter as guest speaker. “We are looking forward to a very, very successful event thanks to the help and leadership of the board and staff,” said Jonathan Cederberg, fundraising coordinator.

Cruisin’ Corvettes of Kern County
Corvette enthusiasts can revel in a day of Corvette viewing—while benefiting The Salvation Army—in Bakersfield, Calif. The 3rd Annual Cruisin’ Corvettes of Kern County Corvette Show will be held May 19 at 10:00 a.m. at 8450 Granite Falls Drive (Senor Pepe’s Restaurant parking lot). Profits will be given to the Bakersfield Citadel Corps to meet the local needs of the less fortunate.
