El Pomar Foundation nominates Red Shield

The El Pomar Foundation has nominated the Denver Red Shield, Colo., as a 2007 Awards for Excellence Finalist. This award honors the outstanding achievements of Colorado’s nonprofit organizations. Each year a winner and two finalists are selected in eleven categories. Denver Red Shield has been nominated in the Sports & Recreation and Youth Development Category. Winners receive $15,000 and finalists receive $7,500. One overall winner is chosen for the Julie and Spencer Penrose Award of $25,000. The awards are presented in November.

“Denver Red Shield is honored to be a nominee for this prestigious award,” said A/Captain Ron McKinney. “Roberta and I thank all our staff and volunteers for providing the services to the community that have made this happen.”

Major Leslie Peacock, Missing Persons director, THQ, has recently been awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University. Congratulations, Major!

Glendale’s Night of Discovery

Join in a red carpet event at the Glendale Corps, Calif., on May 11, 2007 honoring Virginia Thomson, Supervisor Michael Antonovich, and Walter and Charlene Painter, and featuring the New York Staff Band.
