Anti-Human Trafficking Coordinator Heidi Hermann discusses the issue with a friend in Presidio Park.

The Salvation Army’s Sierra del Mar Division recently answered General Shaw Clifton’s call to prayer for victims of sex trade and human trafficking.

Anti-Human Trafficking Coordinator, Heidi Hermann, arranged a prayer event in San Diego’s Presidio Park. Stations were set up to direct people to pray for the following six points: captives of the sex industry, red light districts, the demand, healing for survivors, a united response, and justice. Also on display were books and pamphlets that brought awareness to those who were interested in learning more about the issue.

Several local TV channels covered the event. Between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. an estimated 30 people walked through, prayed at the stations, and stopped to look over some of the books. A table that provided for creative expression became a favorite of the afternoon. People freely painted, drew, and wrote out their thoughts and prayers to God.

Throughout the afternoon, Hermann and uniformed Salvationists, both officers and soldiers from nearby corps, were available to answer questions about what The Salvation Army is currently doing in San Diego and around the world.
