If you were passing by Room 202 of the Long Beach Convention Center on Saturday, you probably heard either a live and dynamic worship band or the loud voice of a Spanish preacher.

Well, that was the adult Spanish Bible study, conducted at the same time as the English Bible studies during the Youth Quake 6.02.

The El Paso worship team, led by Ricardo Ziberra, got the 100 people at the Spanish Bible study on their feet dancing and praising God. Claudia Riberra, member of the worship team, shared with me about her joy of having access to a Bible study in her own language and she expressed to me the joy of worshipping in Spanish and how she felt included in the Salvation Army family.

Captain Zoilo Pardo, corps officer of the El Paso Temple in Texas, spoke from Matthew 28:19-20 on “Bringing today’s generation to Christ.” He went on giving the example of the life of Jesus.

Captain Oscar Tippol, Santa Ana Temple Corps, shared on how to bring different generations in one congregation: Starting with the generation of Builders 1920-1940, Boomers: 1950-1970 to Busters: 1980-2000, Captain explained each category and gave hints on how to address each.

Mr. Raul Guerrero from the El Monte Temple Corps in Southern California talked very fervently from Ephesians 4:15 on the role of a leader.

 

 Estudio Bíblico en Español en YouthQuake 6.02

Si usted pasó por el salón 202 del Centro de Convenciones de Long Beach el Sábado, escuchó tanto la avivada y dinámica banda de adoración como el mensaje en voz alta casi gritado de un predicador latino. Pues ese fue el Estudio Bíblico en español que se llevó a cabo simultáneamente al Estudio Bíblico en inglés durante Youth Quake 6.02.

El grupo de adoración de El Paso con Ricardo Ziberra en el teclado pusieron a las 100 personas presentes a danzar y a alabar a Dios. Ricardo compartió conmigo su alegría de tener un estudio bíblico en su propio lenguaje, su satisfacción de poder adorar en español y como él se siente parte de la familia del Ejército de Salvación.

El Capitán Zoilo Pardo, oficial del Cuerpo El Paso Temple en Texas habló sobre Mateo 28:19-20. Hablando sobre “Trayendo a la Generación de Hoy a Cristo.” Él procedió dando el ejemplo de la vida de Jesús y su ministerio.

El Capitán Oscar Tippol, oficial del Cuerpo Santa Ana Temple, compartió sobre como traer a las diferentes generaciones a una congregación: Comenzando con la generación de los “Builders” (años 1920-1940), “Boomers” (años 1950-1970), hasta los “Busters” (años 1980-2000); el Capitán explicó cada categoría y dio consejos sobre como abordar a cada uno de ellos.

El Sr. Raúl Guerrero, quien está a cargo del Cuerpo El Monte Temple en el Sur de California, habló con mucho fervor sobre Efesios 4:15, “la labor del líder”.

El estudio del Enviado Antonio Carmona de la Avanzada de Pomona Temple estuvo maravilloso: “¡El resultado es evidente de que la necesidad ha sido suplida!”, dijo él, “Necesitamos predicadores hispanos dinámicos que enseñen sobre la Biblia usando ejemplos que se aplique a nuestra cultural.”

Youth Quake no hubiera sido lo mismo para nuestros amigos latinos sin los estudios Bíblicos y la adoración en español. Esta fue una adición importante a nuestro programa de este año y esto conlleva una contingente al Ejército que trae tal vitalidad y valor al Territorio Oeste, y el año próximo esperamos construir basados en este éxito, incluyendo estudios bíblicos en el lenguaje coreano.

Envoy Antonio Carmona, Pomona Temple Outpost, was a participant, and expressed his thoughts: “The results are evidence that a need was met! We need dynamic Spanish speakers who teach the Bible using examples that are applicable to our culture.”

The YouthQuake wouldn’t have been the same without those teachings and a time of worship in Spanish. This was an important addition to this year’s program and this included a contingent of the Army that brings so much life and value to the Western Territory. Next year we hope to build on this success and include a Korean Bible study.
