A family tradition

Merrill Fie, a member of The Salvation Army’s Denver Metro advisory board, just completed his 53rd year of Christmas bell ringing. Denver’s CBS affiliate station, Channel 7, featured him this season as their “everyday hero.”
His family also volunteers during the kettle season. Grandson Derek Porterfield, a student at Pepperdine University’s London campus, participated in London this year. He said the experience was one “that I will remember for the rest of my life. I got to meet new people, interact with a different community, and have lots of fun.”
