An Army of Stars brightens the way and lightens the load of Salvationists throughout the USA. The skill and spirit of 1.6 million volunteers bring vitality to Salvation Army service every day. This special evening celebrates five outstanding leaders who embody the Army’s spirit of public service.

Steve Allen

Our master of ceremonies, Steve Allen, is as multi-dimensional as Salvation Army programs. Mr. Allen’s music and mirth will entertain and enliven our Friday night presentation of excellence awards to five noted honorees. Each honoree will receive the Evangeline Booth Award, presented at this conference for the first time to any American.

Martha Williamson

Evangeline Booth Award for Excellence in Entertainment: Martha Williamson, producer of “Touched By An Angel.” Ms. Williamson is honored for bringing to prime time television a program of outstanding quality and positive values.

Jerry Jones

For excellence in Community Service: Jerry Jones, owner and general manager, The Dallas Cowboys. Through Mr. Jones’ leadership, Dallas Cowboys players and other personnel have become very active in the community, visiting in hospitals and mentoring in Salvation Army boys’ clubs and community centers.

Reba McEntire

Evangeline Booth Award for Excellence in the Arts: Reba McEntire’s music and personal example have made her a role model for young people throughout America.

Joan Kroc

Evangeline Booth Award for Excellence in Philanthropy: Mrs. Joan Kroc’s interest and involvement in the youth of San Diego led her to make possible a state-of-the-art Salvation Army Corps Community Center that will bring life and light to thousands of young people.

Billy Graham

The Salvation Army is pleased to present the Evangeline Booth Award for Religious Leadership and Ministry to Dr. Billy Graham and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Dr. Graham’s Los Angeles Crusade in 1949 began a tradition that continues into the 21st Century. Billy Graham has become an American role model whose Christian character puts him in the forefront of American leaders.
